Albatross

My memories are weights
slung around my neck,
albatrosses
in a forgotten sea.
If I fall overboard
I will sink,
an unforgivable anchor
of what has been
and what could
never be.
Steal these dreams from me
or surely I will become
a relic
at the bottom of the world.

Hamburger

Cindy is a hamburger.
I am sometimes hungry.
But when I’m not,
her grease makes me sick.

The Pursuit

Chasing flesh,
folly follows.

Royal

Weened on so little,
I got accustomed to begging
and felt good in my scarcity.
Tonight, languishing
in your luxurious three-storey
home,
I have decided to
reclaim
what I forgot I deserved.

I Am

As if I weren’t
already Christ,
I prayed to somebody
who didn’t
deserve my faith.

Cucumbers

The sharp smell
of cucumbers soaking in
Salted vinegar.
