Don’t give your life to the specialists. Don’t entrust it to the professionals. They have hijacked us. You, me, everybody. Singers who sing for money are the only singers. Think about it. When someone asks you what you do, do you say you’re a singer? But don’t you sing in the shower? Or your car? Or when you’re high? Drunk? You’re a singer. I’m a singer. We’re also pornstars. And chauffeurs. And counselors. And teachers. And omelette chefs. And veterinarians. And now, to review: we’re pornstars. So why don’t we think of ourselves as these things? Maybe we shouldn’t get business cards stating we’re doctors. But I think it’s time to mutiny. We pay the professionals the big bucks and look upon ourselves as lesser beings. And they revel in this disparity. You (and I) think of them as THE doctors and THE entertainers, so they’re able to demand even more money and attention. But no more. We must reclaim who we are. We need to take pride in what we do and why we do it and who we do it for. It’s time to update our real-world resumes. I say it’s time to pat ourselves on our backs and say BRAVO! We are giants and we are mighty.
